Kliff Kingsbury has been the head coach of the football team since 2013. It will make 5 years by the end of 2018. The Texas Tech Red Raiders could be shifting gears from one head coach to another by the end of 2018. And, the search for a replacement is something that has been sorted out already. As a possible replacement is approaching, this could also mean that the reports of Kliff leaving might indeed be true. It is apprehended that the coach could indeed be fired. On Thursday a tweet from Kirk Bohls, the Austin American-Statesman hinted at this news. The tweet said that it would be really a surprise for Kingsbury if he survives this season at Tech. So, clearly, that means that people are not happy. And, further, he added that Red Raiders will be seriously approaching to Brent Venables, who has been the coordinator of Clemson Tigers defensive spree.
In the event that Kliff is fired, they are pretty much ready and prepared. This is all sorted it seems. Kirby Hocutt, who is the athletic director of Lubbock, Texas, also expressed his disappointment with the current state of the team Tech Red under the umbrella and guidance of their coach Kliff. He goes on to add that when fundamental areas are not uptight, there is bound to be a failure. He mentions that there remains still, a lack of discipline, and it’s penalties. Though, he didn’t forget to mention a plus point too. He said that they have seen improvement in the defense, especially against the run, but still a lot of out of fashion. Now, the 2016 winner of the Broyles Award was none other than Venables. When hinting at him, Hocutt made his motive very clear and distinct. To understand more, this award is given to the top ost assistant coach.
Venables is also considered by many as one of the best defensive minds in college football. So, a little to speculate and more to ponder about the future of the team. And, the future of Kliff. To mention that, Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney values their partnership so much that Venables was given an extension of a five-year worth total of $11.6 million just in July. Now, hopes are high as Hocutt is really hoping that he could help turn around the bad state for the Texas Tech who had been suffering under the Kingsbury for their weak defense.
